Matt Markin: [00:00:00] Hello and welcome to the new podcast Emerging Voices, A series interviewing those within nada's Emerging Leaders Program, which works to build a sustainable community of strong NACADA leaders, representative of diversity across the membership.

Bri Harvie: I am one of the co-hosts. My name's Bri Harvie, and I work up at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Alberta.

Bri Harvie: And my other host friend is,

Matt Markin: Hey, this is Matt Markin from Cal State San Bernardino, and both Bri and I are mentors in the 2024 to 2026 emerging leaders cohort. So what does the future of academic advising hold? Who are the future leaders in advising and NACADA. And we'll meet the voices shaping it today throughout this series of episodes.

Matt Markin: Bri, what are you looking forward to with this series?

Bri Harvie: I can't wait to [00:01:00] hear everybody's journeys. I'm a big fan of always finding out how people landed in higher ed. I feel a little bit like a broken record, but I love to ask folks nobody wakes up in the morning and says, I want to be an academic advisor when I grow up.

Bri Harvie: So how did we land here? And I think every person I've talked to has had such a different. Path into academic advising. So I can't wait to hear the path of these incredible folks who are in this class of emerging leaders.

Matt Markin: We can't wait for you as listeners to hear the stories in this podcast series highlights those experiences, ideas, and impact from the participants in nada's Emerging Leaders Program to amplify their voices that are driving change and re-imagining the future of advising.
